Why I'm building aldowebsitellc.xyz

What this site is

aldowebsitellc.xyz is a one-person software business. I build websites for small businesses, I write short honest ebooks for people learning to code and learning security, and I am studying for my own certifications in public while I do it. That is the whole thing. There is no team behind the curtain, no "we." It is me, in Park City, Utah.

Who I am building it for

Two kinds of people, on purpose.

The first is the small business owner who got quoted four thousand dollars for a website they will never be able to edit. I build the version that does the five things they actually need, at a price that makes sense, and I hand over the keys so they own it outright.

The second is the person teaching themselves to code or break into security, the way I did. For them I write down what I am learning while it is still fresh, in books small enough to actually finish in one evening.

How I am building it: in the open

I made a decision early to do this in public. My prices are on the page, not hidden behind a "contact us for a quote." There is a refund button next to every buy button. I keep a /proof page with the real receipts and an /open page with the real numbers, updated every Friday, even when those numbers are small or zero. Especially when they are zero.

The reason is simple. Trust is the only thing a one-person business really has, and the fastest way to earn it is to stop hiding. If I tell you a price up front and let you walk away with a refund, you do not have to wonder what the catch is. There is no catch. That is the catch.

What you can expect here

On this blog I write two kinds of things. Notes from my own learning: enumeration checklists, the nmap flags I keep forgetting, what the CIA triad actually means, why I am learning Burp Suite. And honest pieces about the business itself: why I sell a $19 ebook instead of running an agency, what a year of structured practice taught me, what I shipped this week and what broke.

I am not going to pretend to be further along than I am. I am early in this. I have not passed every exam I am studying for, and I will tell you when I do, with the score, on the proof page. The whole point of building in public is that you get the real version, in progress, not a polished story told years after the fact.
